Star Storage facilitates access today generations and the future at operas scholar and miniaturist Picu Patrut

Star Storage – the company leader in security and information management solutions(data and documents) in Romania digitized during a project initiated in February 2011 by lead of the Romanian Peasant Museum, 21 of the 40 manuscripts from nineteenth century belonging to scholar and mininaturist Picu Patrut (1818-1872), called “Anton Pann of Transylvania”. Most of these manuscripts was donated by descendants of Picu Petrut Ministry of Culture, and the 21 manuscripts dating from the nineteenth century comprising more than 5000 pages, represents both a real treasure trove of religious compositions in verse, and a genuine complex of miniatures and drawings that illustrate his lyrics.

Picu Patrut on his real name Nicolae Oprea Petrut was, besides scholar and miniaturist, and poet, hymnographer, hymnology, calligrapher and copyist. He discovered his vocation for reading, painting and traditional habits since the age of 12 years after he entered as a teacher at the big church from native commune Salistea, Sibiu County. At age 19 writes his first volume with poetry, and two years later publish his second volume. In 1848 monks at hermitage Cheia (Valcea county), under the name of St. Procopie Patrut, but returns to his native village to become not just a simple illustrator of texts, but a true storyteller in plastic images of rural life and spiritual habits.

Moreover, this ambitious project could be integrated in the future in “The European Library” – network of European national libraries, but also in the portal “Europeana Think Culture”. Yesterday, September 13th, the Romanian Peasant Museum has opened its doors an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Picu Patrut, exhibition which will close on December 2.

Digitization project of the 21 manuscripts belonging to scholar and miniaturist Picu Patrut was realized under the framework documents conversion center of Star Storage detainee in a maximum security area dedicated strictly to this project, with supervision 24/24 throughout the project. The Company has made available facilities to the restorers authorized by the Romanian Peasant Museum to work with these manuscripts, a team of specialists with over 12 years’ experience in the safe maximum handling and digitization documents of national cultural importance. In this documents conversion center of Star Storage are used last generation scanning equipment Zeutchel, which include specific functionalities to protect manuscripts: technology with cold light which emits no heat and does not affect the quality of the original document and that allows file scanning without pressing or detachment, applying special filters to improve image etc.
