Star Storage Foundation donates a new medical equipment to Bucharest Blood Transfusion Centre in the “Blood is Life” campaign
Star Storage Foundation, non-profit legal entity, announces a new donation to Bucharest Blood Transfusion Centre (CTSB) during “Blood is Life” campaign with a modern plasma freezer. With a 265 liters capacity, the freezer meets the highest technological standards absolutely necessary for plasma preservation in optimal conditions up to its use in hospitals from Bucharest.
The “Blood is Life” campaign aims to raise funds to improve medical conditions in the Romanian system with long term positive results for patients, providing modern medical equipment for safety collection, storing and processing blood and related products, needed in Bucharest Blood Transfusion Center and in other centers all over Romania.
Untill now there were donated several medical equipments that meet rules and standards imposed by EU and medical furniture necessary for the labs from Bucharest Blood Transfusion Centre worthing over 35.000 EURO.
“The plasma freezer is vital for our daily activity. We need modern equipment to allow us to store blood and its components as long as possible in optimal conditions. We cannot take risks with a product for which there is no artificial substitute and the numbers of donors is unfortunately getting smaller. The tragedy occurred on October 30th in Collective club, made us realize once again how useful modern refrigerators are to preserve donated blood and its related products for a longer period of time. We are thankful to everyone who donated during those difficult days for the whole nation. There came many persons willing to help and donate blood. Being a perishable substance which we must preserve on long term, modern medical equipments that enable us to operate properly is mandatory. We thank Star Storage Foundation for this donation and for all the effort to help us build a modern Blood Transfusion Center with European standards.” said Dr. Doina Gosa, General Manager at Bucharest Blood Transfusion Center.

We will still run “Blood is Life” campaign and we invite as many Romanians who want a new Blood Transfusion Center equipped with high tech medical equipment to be part of our project. The necessary budget exceeds 1 million EUR. Regular blood donations are just as important as financial ones and regardless the approach of involvement chosen, the result is saving lives. Our next impact action is attending to Bucharest International Marathon on May 15th. We have a running team who have chosen to be ambassadors for the project and raise money via online charitable platforms.
