Star Storage launches the new generation of Cloud services
Star Storage’s new Cloud services, StarVault, address business customers from the private sector (enterprise companies and SMEs) and the public one. StarVault Cloud services portfolio will be completed quarterly with new services, to be gradually introduced throughout this year.
Star Storage launches a special offer for these services specifically intended for small and medium companies that need support in this difficult economic period: companies that meet certain eligibility criteria and wish to test the StarVault services can do it for free, for a 3 month period.
The Cloud StarVault Services from Star Storage fall into three main categories: Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS).
“The current moment is one of analysis and evaluation for every CEO, CFO or manager on reducing operating costs and increase operational efficiency by using the facilities provided by Cloud Computing. Cloud primarily means to reduce costs and risks associated with IT&C infrastructure management. Moreover, by using the infrastructure made available as a cloud service, the capital investment that is now directed to the IT infrastructure can be quickly redirected to core, productive, profit generating activities. Like any other utility (water, electricity) the infrastructure made available as a cloud service will only be used according to the existing needs at a certain point in time. You will pay exactly what you use a certain service and only when you need it. For example, the infrastructure to be used for temporary needs may be available for production in just a few minutes and can be used only for the temporary timeframe when those needs manifest, virtually eliminating costly investments in equipment that is not used at its entire capacity and whose implementation and administration require considerable effort. Collaborative work environments, independent of their location, are also easily implemented. Employees, regardless of the team they are part of and the equipment they use, have access to all documents and applications they need and thus become more productive. It was also proved that the various concerns about, for example, the security or performance of the data stored in Cloud are unjustified, since these are comparable to those of the classical approach, “said Catalin Paunescu, Managing Director Star Storage.
In the current environment, becoming more and more competitive and developing everyday more constraints, companies are permanently looking for solutions that can reduce costs, including those of IT&C, without compromising the services’ quality. Using the Cloud services offered by Star Storage or outsourcing IT infrastructure and data center services to Star Storage is such a solution that brings undeniable major and immediate benefits:
• cost reductions and the possibility of redirecting investments towards core activities;
• the possibility to use the capital for core business, not for IT&C infrastructure investment;
• no hidden costs – the service is charged according to its use, on a need basis;
• eliminate the hassle and risks associated with the implementation and administration of the IT&C infrastructure and keep the focus on your core business
• own data center, Tier-3 in accordance with the TIA-942 standards;
• Quality strictly guaranteed by SLA – guaranteed availability of 99.98%;
• support at the highest level, on a permanent basis – 24x7x365;
A study recently cited by Forbes (April 2012) shows that the U.S. government already saves $ 5.5 billion by having used cloud services for three years now and this saving could reach the amount of 12 billion by the expansion of the use of such services. On the other hand, many European countries have adopted similar strategies, such as the G-Cloud program in the United Kingdom, which aims to save £ 180 million over the next three years (2012-2014) by adopting cloud computing and by using a common set of applications available in the cloud.
“Our cloud services are offered based on fixed monthly subscriptions, depending on the existing needs at a certain time in a company or state institution, costs that include all operating expenses. The high security and availability level of the infrastructure hosted in the Star Storage Data Center – Tier-3, in compliance with TIA-942, with a guaranteed availability of all facilities (power supply, air conditioning) of 99.98% per year is another reason to be convinced that these services are the right choice both for private companies in Romania, regardless of their size and the area in which they operate, as well as for public sector institutions.”, added Catalin Paunescu, Managing Director Star Storage.
